Originally from Guadalajara, México, Mrs. Valencia-Turco went on to win a scholarship for study at the University of Texas at El Paso, under the direction of Ms. Ingeborg Heuser. Mrs. Valencia-Turco holds a B.M. in Piano and Dance Performance. She is a co-founder and teacher of the Frontera Ballet Independiente in Chihuahua, México. Her professional training includes: the Henny Hurriens Foundation in Amsterdam (Netherlands), Associate of the Royal Academy of Dance (ARAD), a postgraduate diploma in Dance studies from Laban in London (UK). Mrs. Valencia-Turco further explored the work of modern dance and movement analysis while earning an M.A. in Movement Studies at the Central School of Speech and Drama, London, (UK). She and her husband moved to Philadelphia in Spring 2011. She is currently a freelance dancer/physical performer. Band of Artists offers her a new approach to movement and physical expression: Tourette’s and neurological disorders may be the key to deepen our understanding of ‘humanity’ and the respect we owe to every single one of us.
