Theresa (Cermanski) Westwood began her dance training at the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet at the age of 6 under artistic director, Marcia Dale Weary. She continued her dance education at Harrisburg Dance Conservatory and The Rock School of the Pennsylvania Ballet. Upon graduation from high school, she accepted a dance and vocal scholarship at De Sales University where she performed works by Vincent Brosseau, Cherie Noble, George Balanchine, and Jacques D’Amboise, among others. She graduated cum laude from De Sales University in 2003 with dual degrees in Dance and English and shortly thereafter moved to New York City. While in New York, Theresa studied at the Paul Taylor School, Dance New Amsterdam, Broadway Dance Center, and Peridance and was invited to participate in several company workshops with Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company. Theresa danced professionally in New York with Carol Nolte/NY Dance Collective, Beth Soll & Company, Baraka de Soleil/The Converge Project, Earl Mosley’s Diversity of Dance Inc., David Wes Dance, and Nicholas Andre Dance Theater. Since moving to Philadelphia in 2006, Theresa has performed as a guest artist with Rebecca Davis Dance Company and Contempra Dance Theatre. She has also performed with Vada Dance Collective and with choreographer Jano Cohen as part of Philadelphia Dance Project’s Local Dance History Project. Theresa holds a Masters degree (MLD) in Leadership Development from Penn State University. She works as a legal analyst by day, and teaches ballet and modern dance at several Philadelphia-area dance studios and currently performs with Band of Artists. Theresa is also a board member of Philadelphia Dance Projects.
